Pierre Michel

It’s an exciting time - web video content is slowly but surely shifting to HD, where people such as 3D artists will finally be able to present their work properly. Compression in both video and audio cripples many animators and 3D artists work, and your average user doesn’t really consider compression, so the attention to detail that people such as Pierre Michel work with, unfortunately is often lost.

Pierre’s one of those people that works in 3d/motion graphics/animation/yougettheidea. There aint much info on him online, but no doubt he’ll make himself known when his website launches properly next year. Keep an eye on this one.

lots of filters

Though this was kind of funny…I was shooting at f22, and still couldn’t get as much movement in the rockpools as I wanted, so I stacked on the filters - only two ND’s, but the whole lens looked so odd that it warranted it’s own photo.

an update to the big list

Still unsure what to call this project… so it’s staying as The Big List for now. I’ve added a bunch of new places to the list though - Michigan Central Station in Detroit, the abandoned African mining town of Kolmanskop and World War II casualty Oradour-sur-Glanes, to name just three…

Inflatable Monsters

It’s rare to come across something simplistically new which isn’t tied to technology in some way. Joshua Allen Harris has utilised the air currents generated from subway tunnels below NYC. By attaching his plastic-bag sculptures to the grates, they come alive for a brief moment, no doubt scaring the living crap out of anyone walking past.

The Big List

So it begins … Project Walkabout, Duaringa, even the inspirational Monsoon.. i need a name for this, whatever it is. An urbex and alien world visit of earth… it’s something that’s been slowly unwinding in my head over the past few months - a big round-the-world trip, but themed with urban and abandoned exploration, and out-of-the-way places which aren’t visited regularly.

This is the first cab off the rank - 3 places. One abandoned, one naturally desolate, and another a peek into an alien world.
